Research published in January's
Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics indicates that students are receptive to lower calorie flavored milks. These findings help support the milk industry’s ongoing commitment to providing great-tasting products with less sugar and calories, and which kids will enjoy. The study measured milk consumption in 793 students in grades 3-5. Overall, they drank 2/3 of their lowfat flavored milk at lunch. Those students drinking lower-calorie flavored milks (150 calories/8 oz) were as likely to drink most of the milk in comparison with students drinking the higher fat or sugar flavored milk.
