Deanna House helps her high school athletes become Waynesville School District's local celebrities. Every year, their photographs are taken with milk mustaches and then turned into Milk Mustache posters to hang in the elementary school's cafeteria.
Each sports season, the new Milk Mustache Celebrities will eat lunch with the elementary students. These kids look up to the athletes, believing to be in the presence of super stars.
In order to boost milk consumption further, the high school and middle schools have added milk vending machines. The schools also feature a special milk flavor each week to go along with the white and chocolate milks.
Deanna's promotions have increased the milk consumption of the students from 66% to 73%.
Waynesville began the Milk Mustache poster program in 2000 and they continue today, while also working closely with the Mid-West Dairy council.
