Clark Blachly, a school foodservice professional with 25 years of experience, has a milk success story that is going 3 years strong. Seeing the opportunity to increase milk consumption in Port Washington High School in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Clark placed two large rolling milk coolers at the end of the school’s ala carte line. These coolers keep the milk ice cold, which kids love! By doing so, Clark has seen a large increase in milk consumption—by 25%! Clark also notes that before the coolers were set out, only about 20% of his students were choosing milk, but with the addition of the coolers, about another 20% started grabbing milk with their meals. While most students prefer lowfat flavored milk, many are still reaching for 2% and skim white milk. Thanks to Clark, his students are sure to have a complete and balanced meal at their school!
