What is one way to get students to drink more milk? Hold a rewards program, of course! And that is exactly what Dr. Cindy Kalogeropoulos has been doing for her elementary school students since November 20th at Grove Avenue School in Barrington, IL.
Dr. Kalogeropoulos, a Principal at Grove Avenue School for the past 27 years, recently noticed that her students were drinking less milk. Along with her lunch room team, Blanca Morales and Rose Stettler, and their foodservice provider, Sodexho, the group came up with the idea of a milk promotion to get kids excited about drinking milk with lunch. From now through January 2012, every class that drinks at least 1000 containers of milk during their lunch time wins a milk mustache photo shoot AND a milk party complete with cold pints of milk. The school has even been promoting the program by creating a large poster board with all the staff at Grove Avenue School wearing funny milk mustaches!
Only a month into the program, Dr. Kalogeropoulos notes that she has seen an increase in milk consumption. She also has added strawberry milk into her product array, so her students now have a complete selection!
