If one thing is certain at Central View Elementary School, it’s that Cathy Vinson really cares about her young students. Cathy, a Cafeteria Manager at the school with11 years of experience not only supports and cares about her students, but she also supports and cares about their nutrition. To help the younger children learn to count, the school always celebrates the 100th day of school. So, this year, when the school’s 100 day celebration came up, Cathy had a plan of action.
Having been a fan of the National Milk Mustache “got milk?” Campaign, for years, Cathy had managed to collect many ads over time. With the help of her school custodian, Cathy came up with the idea of posting a new ad in the school cafeteria for the “count up” to 100 days of school! So, each morning for 100 consecutive days, Cathy posted a different Milk Mustache ad on the wall of her cafeteria. And the response was incredible! The children loved the idea of seeing a new ad every day, and some even reminded Cathy when she was just a few hours late posting one up! Not only did Cathy’s idea encourage her students to count, but it also got them excited for milk! It turns out that milk consumption increased 10% compared to the same time frame last year, and she notes that the latest favorite flavor is strawberry!
Cathy says that she has always tried to decorate and be enthusiastic about holidays and special times of the year, but her Milk Mustache ads surely took the cake! She comments that what she really enjoys about the Milk Mustache ads is the variety of athletes, singers, mothers, children and movie stars that are promoting the importance of drinking milk, which makes it appealing to all ages.
Cathy and her students had so much fun with the 100th day celebration using Milk Mustache ads that she plans on doing it next year, and she’s already looking forward to seeing the newest mustachioed faces!
